Marina Lazetic

Marina Lazetic provides organization to Refugees in Towns (RIT) project; developing the project’s methodology; selecting and managing case studies; developing and maintaining connections with researchers, participants, and experts in the field; and analyzing and disseminating RIT’s findings.

Prior to joining Feinstein, Marina worked for nonprofit organizations in the Western Balkans and the U.S., including Belgrade Center for Security Policy, Open Society Foundations, and Doctors Without Borders. Marina managed several research teams studying movement, financial health, and security of refugees and migrants on the move in the Western Balkans, United States, and Mexico. She is committed to improving research methods and approaches to issues of forced displacement and contributing to better connections between academia and practitioners and policymakers.

She holds a B.A. in human rights, sociology, and theater from Bard College, and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School, where she is currently a Ph.D. candidate. Marina’s dissertation focuses how migration influences the rise of far right extremism in the Western Balkans and the U.S.

Marina lives in Medford, MA, with her husband who is a classical musician and with whom she creates theater shows that they perform across the U.S. Serbian by birth, Marina spends a significant portion of her time in the Western Balkans.
