Marina Prentoulis

Marina Prentoulis is a Senior Lecturer in Media and Politics. She joined the University of East Anglia in 2009. She completed her PhD in Ideologies and Discourse Analysis at the Department of Government, University of Essex. She has lectured in a number of universities including City University, Open University and University of Middlesex. Her research interests include: Political communications; contemporary social movements; European radical ideologies and discourse analysis. Her latest article (with Lasse Thomassen) ‘Political theory in the square: Protest, representation and subjectification’, Contemporary Political Theory (2013) 12, 166–184, worn the Contemporary Political Theory Annual Prize for 2013. She has been the UK spokesperson of Syriza and has given numerous interviews on British and International media (BBC: including appearances on Newsnight, Andrew Marr’s Show and Daily Politics. CNN, CNBC,SKY NEWS). Since 2014 she has been giving public and University lectures on Left populism, social movements and left parties and she has been contributing to OpenDemocracy, the Guardian, Red Pepper and other publications.
