I am a Senior Lecturer in Media and International Development at the University of East Anglia (UEA), UK. I am the author of Media and Development (Zed Books, 2014) and have written academic articles and book chapters on the subjects of international news, philanthro-journalism, celebrities and development, representations of Africa, mediated cosmopolitanism and the role of popular culture in politics. I recently completed an AHRC-funded research project concerned with the content and production of humanitarian news. www.humanitarian-journalism.net
