Marwa Elnahass is a professor in accounting and finance at Newcastle University Business School (NUBS). She holds a PhD from Lancaster University. Elnahass is a lead investigator for responsible and sustainable innovation and fintech.
Elnahass has edited two books and contributes as a panellist and referee for UKRI and international research councils including AHRC, ESRC, and QNRF. Elnahass is a reviewer for several academic journals. Her publication record includes over 30 articles on banking and governance, green finance, carbon accounting, and Islamic finance in top-tier academic journals, including the British Journal of Management, Business Strategy and Environment, Journal of Environmental Management. Her publications have been recognised among the top 25 downloaded papers according to Science Direct.
Her contributions to the field of banking and sustainability have been recognised by the British High Commission and World Health Organization and she was a keynote speaker at the Chamber of Commerce. She has been featured in the Top 200 List of the Most Influential Women in Islamic Business and Finance for both 2021/22 and 2022/23 (nominated for 24/25) by Cambridge International Financial Advisory.
