Mary Ellen Foster

Lecturer in Computing Science, University of Glasgow

I am a Lecturer in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow. My primary research interests are human-robot interaction, social robotics, and embodied conversational agents. I am a member of the Glasgow Social Robotics group and the Glasgow Interactive Systems Group (GIST), and an Associate Academic of the Institute of Neuroscience and Psychology.

From March 2016, I will be coordinating the MuMMER project, a European Horizon 2020 project where we will develop a socially intelligent humanoid robot that is able to operate in a public shopping mall. We are currently hiring!

Until recently, I was a Research Fellow in the Interaction Lab in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. Before that, I worked in the Robotics and Embedded Systems Group at the Technical University of Munich and in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh.
