Dr. Mary Njenga is a Kenyan Research Scientist in Bioenergy-People-Environment at World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research(CGIAR) and based in Nairobi, Kenya. Dr. Njenga holds a PhD in Management of Agro ecosystems and Environment of the University of Nairobi and undertook a post-doctorate at ICRAF on bioenergy.

Dr. Njenga is a visiting lecturer with the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies at the University of Nairobi, where she contributes to programs in sustainable biomass energy systems. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Women Organising for Change in Agriculture and NRM (WOCAN), headquartered in San Francisco and working around the globe. Before joining ICRAF Njenga worked on urban agriculture and environment in sub-Saharan Africa between 2002-2009 at International Potato Centre (CIP) a CGIAR centre. Between 1998-2002 she worked on Community Based Natural Resource Management in the drylands of Laikipia County, Kenya under programs of the Netherlands Development Program (SNV).
