Matt Burgess is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Sustainable Fisheries Group, the Marine Science Institute, and the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California Santa Barbara.

Matt completed his PhD in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior at the University of Minnesota in 2014, combining ecology and economics in both research and coursework. He has broad research interests in sustainability, and his current focus is in fisheries management, food security, and conservation.
