Dr Matthew Hall's research examines the relationships between human beings and plants.

Matt's forthcoming book, 'The Imagination of Plants: A Book of Botanical Mythology' (SUNY Press, 2019) examines the stories told about plants in the world's mythological traditions.

His first book, 'Plants as Persons: a Philosophical Botany' (SUNY Press, 2011) examines the backgrounding of plants as passive and inert and argues for their inclusion within human moral consideration.
