PhD Candidate, Leeds Beckett University

Matt is a Lecturer in Physical Activity, Exercise and Health at Leeds Trinity University, and a PhD student at Leeds Beckett University.
Matt has a BA (Hons) Physical Education at Leeds Metropolitan University, a MSc. Physical Activity and Public Health from Loughborough University and is currently undertaking a PhD at Leeds Beckett University for which he received a scholarship. Matt is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

His PhD explores the association between the physical food and physical activity environment and obesity. He is beginning to collaborate closely with local authorities and other universities to facilitate knowledge exchange within this area.

Matt is an active member of the Association for Obesity (ASO), The International Society for Behaviour, Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA) and the Society for Social Medicine (SSM). His work has been published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as being presented at national and international conferences.

As well as academic research his personal interests include surfing, long-distance running, cross-country running, cycling and football.
