Matthew Kenworthy

Associate professor in Astronomy, Leiden University

I am an astronomer at Leiden Observatory in the Netherlands.

I discover exoplanets by directly imaging them - my group uses the largest telescopes in the world to take images of nearby stars and find the telltale infrared glow of young gas giant planets. I also develop special optics and lenses that remove the glare of the star to let the planet shine through.
