PhD Candidate - Astrometallurgy, Swinburne University of Technology

Matt has worked as an extractive metallurgist all over the world specialising in flotation technology extracting: base metals (Pb,Zn,Cu), rare earth oxides (REO's), and precious metals (gold/silver). Having worked in the extremes of temperature here on earth (>50C in the Australian desert, <-50C in the arctic) Matt took an interest in extractive metallurgy in extreme environments. Moving back into academia to start researching he is now finalising his thesis pioneering the field of astrometallurgy. He has specialised in lunar science and extraction technologies for lunar applications but is well versed in all things to do with resource utilisation in space.
