Max Ortiz C. is a PhD student in the Biomedical signals and systems research group. He is also affiliated to the Orthopaedics Dept. at Gothenburg University, and the Biomaterials Dept. at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. His research focuses on the natural control of artificial limbs through an osseointegrated implant. This involves bio-electric signals acquisition and processing, neural interfaces, biomedical instrumentation, pattern recognition, control algorithms, and artificial intelligence. On the medical side, Max leads the development and clinical implementation of an Osseointegrated Human-Machine Gateway.
