McKale Montgomery

Assistant Professor of Nutritional Sciences, Oklahoma State University

The goal of my research is to understand how perturbations in cellular iron metabolism influence both health outcomes and disease progression. My lab is particularly interested in understanding how genetic mutations in cancer influence tumor cell iron metabolism and the efficacy of iron-targeted chemotherapies. However, my lab is also interested in examining the epigenetic regulation of iron metabolism as a means of identifying dietary intervention strategies that could be used to develop effective precision nutrition therapeutic approaches.
