Melanie is a research fellow at the Institute for Climate, Energy and Disaster Solutions at the Australian National University (ANU). She holds an Honours in economics, a Masters in Environmental Management and Development and a PhD focusing on climate change and international negotiations. As a social and political scientist, her work includes the exploration of finance for loss and damage from climate change impacts and the interplay between international policy making, particularly under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and its translation into a national context in developing countries. Melanie further leads research on exploring innovative and transformational approaches to climate change adaptation in the Indo-Pacific.
