Melisa is an experienced communications professional with a focus on health and social development. For well over a decade, she has advanced priority work in public health and health care to improve the access and quality of health information and communications. Melisa’s interest in promoting and protecting the health of individuals and communities led her to pursue graduate studies in population and public health. Her main interests are in health equity, global health, the social & ecological determinants of health, health promotion, innovation and digital health. She’s particularly passionate about opportunities and issues that arise from the intersection of health, society and communications technology.

Melisa holds a Diploma of Graphic Design from the College of the North Atlantic, NL (2004), a Bachelor of Professional Arts in Communication Studies from Athabasca University, AB (2018), and she is expected to receive a Master of Public Health degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in August 2022. Melisa is a Certified Health Executive (CHE) by the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
