Melissa B Jacoby

Melissa B. Jacoby studies and teaches bankruptcy and commercial law and participates in law reform activities in these areas. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute, the National Bankruptcy Conference, and the American College of Bankruptcy. Earlier in Jacoby's career, she clerked for the Honorable Robert E. Ginsberg of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Honorable Marjorie O. Rendell of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and worked in Washington D.C. as a senior staff attorney for the National Bankruptcy Review Commission. Jacoby taught at Temple University for four years before joining the UNC faculty. Her B.A. and J.D. degrees are from the University of Pennsylvania. Jacoby won UNC Law's inaugural Byrd Award for Excellence and Creativity in Teaching, and the Pro Bono Publico Faculty Member of the Year Award.
