Assistant Professor of Sociolinguistics, University of Nottingham

My research lies at the intersection of language, gender, professional life, and media, with a particular interest in the ways in which structural imbalances and disadvantages are depoliticised. I have spoken on issues of gender equality for various organisations as well as for public audiences. I am a lecturer-advisor for the Gender Equality Initiative, coordinated by the Association of Women Lawyers, Malaysia and the Malaysian Bar Council, and have provided my expertise on gender and language in professional contexts as a mentor for the FutureLearn online course, "How to Read Your Boss". I am also a member of my faculty's Equality and Diversity Committee.
