Senior Research Fellow, University of Sydney

Michael Doyle is a Bardi Aboriginal man and a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sydney. He began his career as a trainee Aboriginal Health Worker in his remote home community of Djarindjin. After 10 years working predominantly in Aboriginal community controlled health services he moved into research in 2008. Michael has completed three degrees, a Graduate Diploma of Indigenous Health Promotion (2009), a Master of Public Health (2013) and a Doctor of Philosophy (2018). Michael’s PhD investigated how to improve alcohol and other drug treatment programs to better meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men in prison. Michael continues to work closely with Aboriginal community controlled organisations and is the co-chair of the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of New South Wales’ Human Research Ethics Committee.
