Michael Drescher

Associate Professor, School of Planning, University of Waterloo

I am an environmental social scientist, teaching environmental planning in the School of Planning at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. My research and teaching revolves around planning, management and conservation of the environment and natural resources in rural, peri-urban and urban settings. I also teach policy analysis and program evaluation.

Before joining the University of Waterloo, I worked for the University of Toronto and the University of Guelph. I also worked for a number of years as scientist for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

I am an inter-disciplinary scholar and pragmatic with regard to methodological approaches. Environmental problems are very complex and require input from many different disciplines to be solved. My work reflects these perspectives and is focused on finding practical solutions to real-world problems.
