Associate Professor of African Studies and Anthropology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Michael C. Lambert is Associate Professor of African Studies and Anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an enrolled citizen of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

His research has focused on francophone West Africa and American Indians. He is author of Longing for Exile: Migration and the Making of a Translocal Community in Senegal (Portsmouth, NH: Heinemann), and co-author (with Leonard Lambert) of Up from These Hills; Memories of a Cherokee Boyhood (U of Nebraska Press). In addition, He has published on gender, negritude, transnational migration, and West African politics.
