PhD candidate - Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University

I am currently a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University. i started my current program in 2017 and am just turning into my own research/fieldwork focused on personalized learning. This has been my area of interest throughout my 30-year educator career.

As an educator, I have co-founded two innovative and award-winning schools in BC Canada - SelfDesign Learning Community and Virtual High Learning Community - and I've also served on faculty of the Transformative Learning Foundation (now merged into Antioch University). I remain enthusiastic about many aspects of education and very much enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds.

i’m also an accomplished and experienced writer-journalist-researcher going back 30 years. My writing - mainly focused on education, science and technology - has been published in numerous media including the Georgia Straight, the Vancouver Sun, Canadian Science News Service, Science Dimension magazine, and BC Business, and I've been contracted by numerous private and government clients.

My first adult career was as an exploration geologist roaming the far reaches of the Yukon and many other Canadian and American wilderness regions, well-known for their vistas, bugs, swamps, and ornery 2-and-4-legged critters.

thanks, michael maser; Gibsons B.C.
