Michelle Berry lives in Tasmania and was awarded a Masters in History on Eliza Batman and colonial women and the law (University of Tasmania, 2020) and also holds a Grad. Dip. History (University of Melbourne, 2007) and BAppSc (Heritage Conservation, University of Canberra, 1989). She specialises in colonial Victorian and Tasmanian history and their gendered dynamics.

Michelle has worked in the museum sector for thirty-five years as a heritage specialist and is currently working as a conservator at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Michelle has worked as a consultant for a number of heritage organisations in Tasmania, including Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority, MONA, Parks Tasmania, and local councils. Her work has also taken her around the world working on archaeological sites in Antarctica, Egypt, and Thailand and since 2007 she has worked on the conservation of Mawson’s Huts in Antarctica.
