Associate Professor, specialising in Indigenous leadership, The University of Melbourne

As a mid-career researcher, Associate Professor Michelle Evans contributes to the academic disciplines of leadership, entrepreneurship, management education and research methodologies. Michelle has an ARC record of two completed Linkage projects and one current Discovery Indigenous project. As an established teaching academic, Michelle occupies a unique position with over fifteen years of experience teaching Indigenous post graduate students, including at least 300 Indigenous business people, Indigenous artists and Indigenous researchers. As a research supervisor, Michelle has supervised three honours students (two Wiradjuri scholars who achieved H1 honours) to completion and three doctoral students to completion (one Martu scholar).

Michelle is founder of a number of programs, community based organisations and collective movements including the Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development (Uni of Melbourne), 3Kool n Deadly Melbourne’s Indigenous radio station, Walan Mayingu Indigenous entrepreneurship Pop Up Hub program (CSU), MURRA Indigenous Business Master Class program (MBS) and Indigenous Business Month in Australia.

Michelle has been appointed as the inaugural director of the Dilin Duwa Centre for Indigenous Business Leadership. The Dilin Duwa Centre is a shared initiative of the Melbourne Business School and Faculty of Business and Economics. With three streams of work – research, teaching programs and community engagement – the Dilin Duwa Centre is focused on contributing to an economically powerful Indigenous Australia.
