My primary research focus is the dynamics of wild bird viruses. I have spent 10 years working on the ecology and evolution of avian influenza virus in wild birds, and am involved in enhanced surveillances and other activities to prepare for an incursion of highly pathogenic avian influenza. I am also interseted in revealing the entire virus communities of wild birds and attempting to understand the factors that modulate these virus communities.
