Principal Research Scientist for the 'A Healthy and Resilient Great Barrier Reef' program, Australian Institute of Marine Science

Mike's current research at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) focuses on developing novel control technologies against the crown-of-thorns starfish through an understanding of genomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics.

Previously, he has worked for the Max-Planck-Institute in Germany and as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol in the UK. Mike has worked at AIMS since 1992, and in the past has studied crustacean aquaculture species, such as the Palinurid lobster.
