Miliann Kang is Professor of Women’s, Gender, Sexuality Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her book, The Managed Hand: Race, Gender and the Body in Beauty Service Work (2010, University of California Press) won book awards from the National Women’s Studies Association and the American Sociological Association. Her next book, Mother Other: Race and Reproductive Politics in Asian America, is under contract with the University of California Press. Her writing has been published in the Conversation, Newsweek, Huffington Post, Meridians, Contexts, Women’s Review of Books, Gender and Society, Ms. and the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
