Monica De Paoli

I am a MD from Italy and obtained my PhD at McMaster University in the Chemical Biology program. My research involves looking at the protective effect of estrogens in pancreatic beta cell health and function and atherosclerosis progression. In other words, I am studying at the biological level how women before menopause are protected from the development of diabetes, compared to men or women after menopause. I also have a strong interest in teaching and learning and have been involved in a variety of SoTL projects, from creating open access online modules for eCampus Ontario, to projects on how to foster conversations around teaching portfolios easier. I am currently a co-editor for the International Journal of Students as Partners (Canadian team).
