Monte Gates graduated with a BS in Experimental Psychology, and a BA in Philosophy from Austin Peay State University (USA). From there, he went on to complete a PhD in Anatomy and Neurobiology at the University of Tennessee (USA), and, afterwards, postdoctoral research at Lund University (Sweden), Harvard University (USA) and Cardiff University (UK). Dr. Gates is currently based in the School of Medicine at Keele University (UK) where he is the director of Master's degree projects in Anatomical Sciences, and in the School of Pharmacy and Bioengineering at Keele University (UK) where he conducts laboratory research on spinal cord injury and neurodegenerative diseases.
