Professor of Construction and Project Management, Head of School of Built Environment, Massey University

Monty Sutrisna is Professor of Construction and Project Management and is the Head of the School of the School of Built Environment at Massey University, New Zealand. He is the current President of the Australasian Universities Building Education Association (AUBEA). As an active researcher, his research expertise includes Construction and Engineering Management, Construction Productivity, Construction Procurement and Contracts, Construction IT and other Advanced Technologies applied in Construction as well as Construction Project Management, Decision Making Modelling/Support, Knowledge Based Systems and Artificial Intelligence. Prior to joining Massey University, he was the Head of Construction Management Department at Curtin University in Western Australia and was the Director of PG Research Training & Outreach/Programme Director for CM Programme at the University of Salford, UK. He specialises in research methodology in the built environment research and champions close collaboration between academia and industry. He is a fellow in the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), in the Australian Institute of Building (FAIB, a chartered building professional), and in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS, a Chartered Quantity Surveyor) and a member in the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineers (MInstCES), Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB, a chartered construction manager) and Institute of Civil Engineers (MICE). He has been actively involved in the local/national boards and committees in those professional institutions. In addition to reviewing for many academic journals, he also reviewed for the Australian Research Council (ARC). He has been involved in the Tertiary Education Qualification and Standards Agency (TEQSA) register of experts, reviewing TEQSA’s accreditation of Construction Management courses in Australia. He is the Scientific Leader of the MBIE funded CanConstructNZ research programme,
