Mpho Sharon Makaleng

Ms Mpho Sharon Makgedi Makaleng is a lecturer and section coordinator for the transport and logistics section in the Department of Applied Management at the University of South Africa (UNISA). Mpho started her career as a lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in 2014 and joined UNISA in 2018. She was awarded a scholarship by the TUT and was further nominated by the National Research Foundation (NRF) in 2016 for a Master’s degree scholarship which she completed in 2017 with the TUT. She also obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education with the University of Pretoria in 2017. She is currently pursuing a PhD in reverse logistics at Nelson Mandela University. Mpho contributes towards the broad supply chain management discipline through textbook chapter authoring, curriculum development and research publications. She participates actively in research and has presented a number of papers in international conferences related to logistics and supply chain. She has contributed a chapter in the Business Management: An African perspective textbook, which was published in 2019 & is currently contributing two chapters in another textbook with Van Schaik. She is an external examiner for various tertiary institutions, acts as supervisor for Master’s research projects and is an external reviewer for national academic journals. Mpho is also a committee member of the African Institute of Supply Chain Research (AISCR) and serves on the department’s Research Ethics Committee. She was further awarded the Facilitator of the Year in 2018 by SAPICS, the professional body for supply chain management.
