I'm a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Sociology, University of Nottingham. My work focuses on the role of digital technologies within social practices: on the changing patterns of life that result, and the implications for governance and design, specifically in the areas of energy, mobility, and digital data. Projects include exploring the changing roles of users within near-future smart grids; family life within the IoT-enabled smart home; and the use of digital technologies to reduce energy use in the workplace. A second, related research interest is in the role of futures in organisations and policy making.
My occasional non-academic writings are gathered here http://murraygoulden.blogspot.co.uk/
