Lecturer in English literature, Manchester Metropolitan University

I've have taught at University of Manchester, University of Lincoln and I am currently a Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University.

I work in Food Studies - an interdisciplinary field across the humanities and social sciences that looks at the cultural meanings and significance of food and eating (and related topics such as hunger). As a ‘gastrocritic’ I have a good grasp on how to read the cultural meaning of a range of food-as-texts, in a number of different contexts. All of my research and publications are in this area.

I work mostly in literature and film, but I also work more broadly in cultural studies. My work is particularly interested in issues around race and national identity.
