VC Professoriate Research Fellow, Edith Cowan University

Professor Narelle Lemon is an internationally recognised researcher in education and initial teacher education bringing an interdisciplinarity across education, arts, and positive psychology. She engages with narrative inquiry and creative research methods with a recent focus on poetry, photography, and visual narratives. Her particular research expertise and interest relate to fostering wellbeing literacy in K-12 teachers, preservice teachers, and higher degree research students and academics in the higher education sector. Narelle's vision is to capacity build wellbeing and self-care practices in others to support proactive decision making across diverse evidence-based areas of wellbeing science in order to flourish while learning how to adapt to work, life and societal stressors. As an interdisciplinary researcher Narelle has also built a portfolio in scholarship of learning and teaching with a particular focus on professional digital literacy and confidence building in higher education with social media for community connections and enactment of being networked scholars. Her work in this area has been acknowledged with a AUUT National Teaching Citation. As a passionate teacher educator, Narelle has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts education and professional experience (work integrated learning) in Australia and Malaysia. She is currently VC Professoriate Research Fellow at Edith Coan Univeristy in Perth having previously held the position of Associate Dean (Education) in the School of Social Sciences, Media, Film and Education at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne leading the learning and teaching portfolio across 4 departments and 2 research centres. In this role she has made significant contributions to student engagement and retention with the design and implementation of a Pedagogy of Belonging that placed humanising learning, relationships, and care for students and colleagues at the centre of pedagogical decisions.
