Associate Professor, Curtin Law School, Curtin University

I am a legal historian based at Curtin University. I come from a Japanese Studies background and fell into the war crimes space in 2009 and have never left. I concentrate mostly on World War II war crimes in the Pacific theatre: I am the law reporter for the forthcoming Australian War Crimes Trials of the Japanese Law Reports Series and I wrote the National Archive's guide to archival records on war crimes investigations and prosecutions (available for free online at the NAA website). I am also interested in other legal issues arising out of that war, including national security regulation and particularly censorship. I teach statutory interpretation at the Curtin Law School, so have a significant interest in the drafting and interpretation of legislation.
