Associate Professor of Economics, Nipissing University

Dr. Brown is an Associate Professor in the School of Business and the Department of Political Science, Philosophy and Economics at Nipissing University where she teach courses in macroeconomics, money and banking, international trade and finance, and economic development. Her current research interests are in immigrant integration, sustainable tourism, financial literacy, philanthropy, management education, and political economy. Dr. Brown is the Chair for the Standing Committee on Immigration to Northern, Rural and Remote Communities at Pathways to Prosperity, and a member of the Ontario Hub for the Canadian Philanthropy Partnership Research Network (PhiLab). Pathways to Prosperity is an alliance of university, community, and government partners dedicated to fostering welcoming communities and promoting the integration of immigrants and minorities across Canada, while PhiLab is a Canadian research network on philanthropy. Dr. Brown's research in immigrant integration focuses on the attraction and retention of newcomers to small and rural communities.
