Dr Reader researches on electoral administration, convenience voting and the effectiveness of Westminster parliamentary committees. He holds a PhD from Swinburne University of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Melbourne. In 2014 he was a visiting researcher at Caltech in Pasadena, Los Angeles.
Dr Reader has worked as a researcher with the Parliament of Victoria's Joint Investigatory Committees since 2007. He is also the editor of the Electoral Regulation Research Network's newsletter. In addition, Nathaniel was Deputy Returning Officer for the 2016 Victorian local government election for Brimbank Council. Prior to his election work, Nathaniel spent time working in Vietnam with AusAid, and before that, running his own small business in North Queensland.
