Nicole De Wet- Billings

Senior Lecturer, Demography and Population Studies, Schools of Social Sciences and Public Health, University of the Witwatersrand

Dr. Nicole De Wet- Billings, has a PhD degree in Demography and Population Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa). She is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Demography and Population Studies programme at the University of the Witwatersrand. She is a CARTA PhD and UMAPS Fellow. She is the Head of the programme in Demography and Population Studies. Dr. De Wet- Billings is the recipient of two Andrew Mellon Grants and the National Research Foundation Thuthuka Post-Doctoral Grant.

She is collaborating on research with the University of Southampton, the University of Michigan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria; Federal University Oye-Ekiti and the University of Johannesburg. She has taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Demography and Population Studies. She has 31 publications in accredited journals and four book chapters. Her research interests are in the fields of adolescent health and mortality.
