Prof. Evans has over 20 years of experience in analytical geochemistry, geochronology and thermochronology. She has been a researcher in the John de Laeter Centre (JdLC) since 2004 and leads the JdLC laser ablation ICP-MS GeoHistory facility (infrastructure funded via AuScope via NCRIS (auscope.org.au), Curtin University and the ARC). The open access Facility houses two RESOlution excimer lasers, an Agilent 7700 quadrupole MS, Agilent 8900 QQQ MS and a Nu Plasma II multi-collector MS and provides analytical solutions for academia, industry and government collaborators (jdlc.curtin.edu.au). Research applications include single stream and split-stream analysis (two mass spectrometers simultaneously analysing a single ablation product) of geological, industrial, biological and planetary materials. Innovative R&D projects enhance mineral and petroleum exploration, monitor environmental contamination and climate/paleoclimate change indicators and explore the geological evolution of Earth.
