Eklund holds a doctorate in Australian domestic content regulation from the Digital Media Research Centre at QUT. In 2022, he was a member of the University of Oxford's Media Policy & Law Summer Institute. He has researched and consulted on issues of digital platform regulation, screen policy, and broadcasting and new media policy.
