Dr Cheung joined SOAS in 2020 as Research Fellow of SOAS China Institute. She is working with Professor Steve Tsang on the project ‘The Political Thought of Xi Jinping’. Prior to joining SOAS, she was Teaching Fellow in East Asian Politics and International Relations and Course Director for MA in International Politics and East Asia at the University of Warwick. She earned her D.Phil. in Politics as a Swire Scholar at St Antony’s College, Oxford, where she also obtained her M.Phil. in Politics as a Rhodes Scholar. Previously, she obtained her Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government & Laws) from the University of Hong Kong as a HKU Scholar. Her D.Phil. thesis traces how factionalism, ideological conflicts, and policy entrepreneurship interacted to shape policy changes in China from the 1960s to 2010s.
