I am a fellow of the Carnegie Foundation, African Diaspora Visiting scholar, adjunct professor at University of Regina, Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Lagos visiting scholar. I received the Wilfrid Laurier's Teaching Excellence Award and was instrumental to designing courses such as the Intercultural Social Work Practice Certificate. I am an anti-racism trainer/educator, a fellow of the Tshepo Institute for the study of Contemporary Africa, board member of Black Lives Matter, Waterloo, immediate past president of the African Canadian Association of Waterloo Region, and an academic affiliate of the YouthRex hub at York University. I founded the Community Academic Reciprocal Engagement (CARE) for Black youth, a social innovation laboratory promoting inter-group anti-racism education with the aim of demystifying blackness and also founded the Leading While Black (LWB) leadership academy for Black university students.
