A/Professor Lin is trained as a psychiatrist and epidemiologist with more than 12 years of experience in research on mental health and has published more than 60 articles or book chapters related to biomedical sciences. Before he joined UNSW, he served as an associate professor at the Department of Health Sciences of Karlstad University in Sweden and was conducting research on environmental factors associated with neurodevelopmental outcomes. With the international cross-disciplinary research training, A/Professor Lin has collaborated with experts in various fields, including neuroscience, molecular biology, developmental psychology, and statisticians, to conduct a wide range of studies on mental health issues. He is currently leading several research projects on biomarkers associated with clinical heterogeneity in emotional or behavioural traits, such as autism, in the South Western Sydney area in Australia. His long-term goal is to establish an integrative research program that combines population health, clinical, and experimental data, to generate findings that may shed some light on precision medicine in mental health.
