Associate Professor of Functional Genomics, Texas A&M University

Dr. Penny Riggs is an Associate Professor of Functional Genomics in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University. Her current research focuses on analysis of gene, RNA, and protein expression, function and signaling, particularly in skeletal muscle. Other work is focused on whole genome sequencing of bacterial pathogens. She is interested in the application of genomic technologies for ensuring food and nutritional security, and human and animal health. She served as Associate Vice President for Research at Texas A&M University, 2019-2022.
