I work at the Policy Research and Evaluation Unit at Manchester Metropolitan University, a diverse and dynamic unit within the Sociology Department. I work on a broad range of subjects including engagement in arts and literacy education in prisons and co-production in health and social care.
I graduated in 2016 with a PhD in Criminal Justice Studies from the School of Law at the University of Leeds. My PhD explored the carrying of knives among young people in the UK.
I have spent fifteen years as a researcher in academia, the private and public sectors. I have taught university under-graduates, Masters students and PhD students and have delivered writing and developmental workshops to post-graduate students. I have published and co-authored articles, book chapters and reports including chapters in textbooks.
