Peter Vandergeest

Emeritus Professor, Geography, York University, Canada

Peter Vandergeest is a Emeritus Professor and Senior Scholar in the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change at York University, and Faculty Associate in the York Centre for Asian Research. Vandergeest has been conducting research in Southeast Asia on environmental and agrarian change since the 1980s. His most recent research project, entitled Work at Sea, is a collaborative project with Melissa Marschke, Philip Kelly, Elizabeth Havice, and a team of graduate students. The team is investigating working conditions and labour relations among migrant workers in industrial fisheries and the seafood sector in East and Southeaat Asia.
