My research focusses on the ocean carbon cycle, both its links to climate and influenceover atmospheric carbon dioxide. I investigate both past changes in ocean carbon cycling and the future response to human emissions. I am particularly interested in how to combine geochemical archives of the past with numerical models to constrain past climates and carbon cycling.

My research interests include:

The links between the carbon cycle and climate in the past and future
Reconstructing the causes of past atmospheric CO2 change
Glacial-interglacial cycles in climate and CO2
The long term effects of current anthropogenic carbon emissions
How the physics, chemistry and biology of the oceans affects ocean carbon storage
