Honorary Lecturer, School of Public Health, University of the Witwatersrand

After completing his medical training at the University of the Free State in 2006 and his internship and community service at Groote Schuur and Red Cross Children’s Hospital in 2009, Pieter studied politics, philosophy and economics at UCT for a year. He trained as a Public Health Medicine Specialist at Wits from 2011 completing specialist training in 2014. He is a Fellow of the College of Public Health Medicine of South Africa and also holds a Diploma in Child Health from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. Pieter has published in both national and international peer reviewed journals. His academic interest is mainly focused on resource allocation and cost effectiveness analysis and he is currently completing an MSc in Health Economics, Policy and Management at the London School of Economics.
