Research expertise lies in community sanctions and measures, criminal sentencing, governance and social control, comparative criminal justice, and Chinese studies. Author of Governance, Social Control and Legal Reform in China: Community Sanctions and Measures (Palgrave Macmillan 2018). Winner of the Asian Criminological Society Dintinguished Book Prize 2019. Non-practicing attorney in China.
