Dr Samuel Zhang is a Senior Lecturer in Economics and the Undergraduate Program Coordinator at Federation University Australia, and a Fellow at the Global Labor Organization (GLO). Prior to joining Federation University Australia, Samuel spent around 2 years at the Department of Economics, Deakin University where he held position as Dean’s Research Fellow. Samuel obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University) in 2018.
Samuel’s research interests lie in Development Economics, Applied Micro-econometrics and Macroeconomics. His research applies rigorous econometric methods founded on sound economic theory to formulate evidence-based economic and social policy recommendations. The research outcomes inform policy makers and the public to achieving sustainable development and promoting economic welfare. Samuel has published extensively in leading journals such as Energy Economics, Journal of Development Studies, and China Economic Review. His evidence-based and policy-relevant research has been featured by media such as Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and the World Economic Forum.
