Rachael Bolton is a professional journalist with more than 10 years in the media industry.

She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Arts in Literary Journalism at the University of Sydney. This research examines Australian multiculturalism and masculinity through interview and survey data collection, exploring how Australian men from diverse backgrounds are taught about what constitutes an adequate performance of “manhood" and how they feel about being men in today's culture.

Rachael holds a Bachelor of Arts in gender and cultural studies and a Master of Media Practice from the University of Sydney. Her research interests include gender performativity, social and cultural activism and change, psychologies of protest and civil unrest, and the evolution of gender binaries.
